Happy Valentine’s Day!!! Today the entire world is celebrating a day of “Love”. It is not limited to lovers. This day is the celebration of all the relationships which involve love, respect and caring, like family and friends. But one thing is missing which is self-relationship! Don’t you think it deserves the celebration too? Self-love is the most important part of our life as it is our primary relationship but how many people give importance to self-relationship? How many even take it seriously? The answer is very few. We all have insecurities. We always compare ourselves to others and wish, we could change something so we could be more like others. Then we focus on changing ourselves so much that we totally forget our perfections/imperfections are what makes us unique. “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken” – I just love this quote and it is so true! We should learn to accept ourselves happily the way we are and start appreciating the amazing qualities we are born with. More we accept ourselves and love ourselves more we feel happy and content in our lives. There are many things you can do to increase self-love but here I am sharing some of my effective tips which I personally follow and It works!!!
1. Create a list of things you like to do and makes you happy. Small/big doesn’t matter, it can be anything like reading a book, going for a walk, playing with your pet etc. And then start working on this list everyday.
2.Take care of your body. Eat healthy food, exercise regularly. This helps to boost your energy and confidence.
3.Write down things you like about yourself. Look in the mirror and say it loudly.
4.Create a list of affirmations. For example – I believe in me. I am beautiful. I am enough. I respect myself. I love and accept myself. Create a list as long as you want. Read it loudly and believe it when you say it.
There is nothing new in those tips. Most of us already know it but the important question is how many of us follow it seriously and do it everyday? In order to see the change, you have to do it everyday. I can tell you from my experience, you will definitely feel the change!
